4-in-1 Laser Welding Machine – Can It Really Run 24 Hours?

4-in-1 Laser Welding Machine – Can It Really Run 24 Hours?

I didn’t plan to write about this topic, but recently two customers asked me almost the same question in one week.

Both of them were worried about production.

One of them runs a small metal workshop, around 7 workers. During busy season they sometimes work late, even overnight. He kept asking me, “If we push the machine hard, will it stop?”

I didn’t give him a marketing answer.

Because honestly, saying “yes of course 24 hours no problem” sounds easy. Reality is a bit more practical than that.

From what I’ve seen over the years in this industry, the laser source itself is usually stable. Modern fiber lasers are designed for industrial use. They are not fragile.

But the machine is not only the laser.

I’ve seen machines run 16–18 hours daily for months without serious issues. I’ve also seen machines stop after 6 hours because the environment wasn’t ideal.

One real example — a client once told me his machine shut down twice in a week. He thought something serious was wrong. After checking step by step, we found the workshop temperature was very high and the cooling water hadn’t been changed for a long time.

After cleaning and adjusting, it ran normally again.

So when people ask, “Can it run 24 hours?”

My honest answer is:

It can run long hours.
But it still needs basic care.

Even factories that operate 24/7 don’t just switch machines on and forget them. Someone checks temperature. Someone checks lenses. Someone watches the system.

If power supply is stable, cooling system is working properly, and maintenance isn’t ignored, long shifts are not unusual.

For smaller workshops, 1500W is usually easier to manage. Less heat, less stress on cooling. 3000W can also run long hours, but the setup needs to be stronger.

I’m writing this because I noticed many customers hesitate about this part. They worry about downtime more than anything else.

In my experience, most downtime doesn’t come from the laser itself. It comes from small details people overlook.

That’s just something I’ve seen again and again.

So yes, 24-hour operation is possible.

But like most things in production, it depends on how seriously you treat the machine.
